People who have celiac disease need to follow a gluten-free diet for life to manage the condition. With celiac disease, eating gluten causes the immune system.
Fruit and vegetables. Aim to eat at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day. Fresh, frozen, tinned, dried or juiced can be part of your daily allowance.
Always include some protein – like beans, pulses, fish, eggs, meat or other types. It helps you stay full. Carbs: stick to wholegrain. Carbs like potatoes.
Aim to eat at least 2 portions of fish a week, one of which should be oily. Oily fish includes mackerel, sardines, trout and salmon. A portion is around 140g.
Offer good sources of non-haem iron such as dried beans, lentils, peas, broccoli, spinach, beans, fortified cereals, breads and whole grains if your child wants.
Bland Foods: Milk, low-fat dairy products, Fruits and vegetable juices, cooked vegetables and fruits with skin, bread, crackers, hot cereals, oatmeal, etc.
You'll need a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, especially green, leafy vegetables, such as kale. Make sure you get enough lean proteins, including oily.
