Leaving a newborn to cry it out could be dangerous, as you could miss meeting one of their needs. Newborns also cannot self-soothe yet, so they rely on their caregivers to do the soothing for them.

Just remember that newborns have very immature digestive systems and are prone to gas and reflux, so if they are crying, they may be in pain or discomfort, and you should respond and rule out these potential needs.
